<copy_text>
This ethereally beautiful French movie explores the developing sexuality of three 15-year-old girls in a Parisian satellite town, drawn together by a passion for competitive synchronised swimming. Best friends Marie and Anne exist on the fringes of the local synchronised swimming team and while Anne fantasises about François, the local stud, Marie seems more interested in his girlfriend Florian. This mixture of chlorine, hormones and frustrated desire bursts with charm and humour, offering a spot-on portrayal of the agonies of adolescent lust and rejection with a few fantastic ‘synchro’ routines thrown in.
</copy_text>

<copy_text>
Tiny Ghanaian shanty town Bukom is a factory for the toughest boxers in the world, and this incredible film follows two men and a woman as they battle their way to the rings of Europe and America to fight for the biggest prizes in the business. Witnessing their triumphs and defeats in and out of the ring, this is a record of modern Africans' ambitions as they fight for respect and reward, for their tribe and their home. Screening with Combat de Boxe (1927), a short avant-garde film which turns a boxing match into a metaphor for cinema itself.

<copy_text>
The 2006 FIFA World Cup Finals seen through the Super8 camera lens of French midfielder Vikash Dhorasoo, Substitute is the curious antithesis of Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait. Where Gordon presented a master in action, here we see a player's inaction, as Dhorasoo is overlooked for much of the tournament whilst his team reaches the final. Alone in his hotel room, his frustrations become evident as he becomes more candid about his position, his coach and the rest of the squad. Striking and honest, this collaboration between Dhorasoo and director Poulet shows a side of a top footballer's life that the public rarely sees.

<copy_text>
Table-tennis aficionados solemnly claim their pleasure as the world’s second-favourite participation sport after football. Maybe it’s hard to shoot a good rally, but there are significantly fewer good ping pong movies than footie ones. Adapted from Taiyou Matsumoto’s manga series, Ping Pong is an exhilarating and heartfelt saga of two childhood pals who find their schoolboy assumptions about their relative ping pong prowess shaken up over the course of two tournaments. Described as The Matrix of table tennis, this madcap tale features larger-than-life characters and surreal camera tricks to capture the true spirit of the game. Introduced by David Goldblatt.</strong

Members of eShed.net a website run by young people for young people (14-21 years) interested in film and media, invite the audience from the evening’s screening of Ping Pong to join them for a competition to find the King or Queen of Ping.
